Yes! I’m a classically trained harpist and happy to learn special requests. Non-classical requests require at least one month’s notice.

A deposit and signed contract secure your date while we finalize music details so you can relax knowing everything is covered.
On the day of your event, I arrive 30-60 minutes before hand to unpack, setup, and tune.

Hi, I’m Zane!
Teaching is at the heart of my musical identity. I began my musical journey at age five, and I have always been fortunate to learn from honest, patient, and kind teachers who nurtured my love for music.
In high school, I saw a harpist perform the cadenza from Tchaikovsky’s Waltz of the Flowers. This moment was a turning point in my life, and I felt an unexplainable connection to the instrument.
The following summer, I found a teacher in my area and have been hooked on the harp ever since. Thanks to the guidance of my mentors, I have had the opportunity to learn from leading harpists in our field.
My identity and career have been shaped by the wisdom and support of my incredible teachers, and I strive to pass that same mentorship on to my students.

About
Zane Mallett is the newly appointed Principal Harpist of the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. Before joining the HSO, Zane served as Principal Harp of the Baton Rouge Symphony.
He has appeared as Guest Principal Harp with the San Francisco, Oregon, Utah, Buffalo, and Rochester Symphonies, and has also performed with ensembles including the Toronto, Charlotte, and Winnipeg Symphonies.
In 2025, he was named winner of the Corcoran Concerto Competition. He has been a featured soloist with the Baton Rouge Symphony, Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and Atlantic Music Festival. He has spent summers at the Aspen, Spoleto, Pierre Monteux, and Round Top music festivals.
Originally from Dallas, Zane began his musical studies at age 5 with violin and harp at age 16. He holds degrees from Southern Methodist University, Rice University, and the Royal Conservatory of Music. He is grateful to all of his teachers, namely his primary mentors Naoko Nakamura, Paula Page, and Judy Loman.
